Adventure awaits in San Diego's North Country at Solana
Beach with hidden coves and breathtaking bluffs. Staircases are widely
accessible to help you descend the cliffs and enjoy majestic sunset views.
Solana Beach offers numerous surfing hot spots and five hubs of activity
including: Del Mar Beach, Fletcher Cove, Seascape, Seaside, and Tide
Beach. La Jolla Shores Gentle waves and the bordering of Kellogg Park make La
Jolla Shores the perfect destination for families looking to wade in
the water and enjoy a picnic on the grass. La Jolla Shores hosts a number
of novice scuba classes and is located near the Steven Birch Aquarium,
open daily for hands on exploration. Grab one of the 300 plus parking
spaces by arriving before noon during prime summer season. Windansea Beach Beautiful scenery meets mesmerizing surf breaks at Windansea
Beach in La Jolla, a community in the City of San Diego. Experienced
surfers will love the challenge of surfing at the rocky shores of Windansea
Beach. If you're looking for a little privacy, sandstone rocks act as
barriers in between beach goers for a little picnicking or sunbathing.
Swim with caution as the shorebreak creates hard breaking surf at the
shoreline. Tourmaline Surfing Park One of San Diego's fab North Country beaches is a hot spot for surfing
and sailboarding. The surfing park borders Crystal Pier on the south
and the posh community of La Jolla on the north. Tourmaline Surf Park
is considered a gem to locals, as its name denotes, Tourmaline is a semi-precious
stone that comes in a variety of colors. Pacific Beach You can't get any more specifically Pacific than Pacific
Beach (try saying that 10 times fast). This popular paradise is just
south of Crystal Pier and stretches out for more than 2 miles towards
it's neighbor, Mission Beach. A narrow boardwalk parallels the entire
coastline making this beach ideal for a leisurely bike ride or sunset
stroll. Along with the sun and surf, you can count on Pacific Beach to
provide great people watching opportunities and the chance to dream big
when you get a glimpse of the even bigger beach front homes along the
Strand. Mission Beach Mission Beach emulates the So Cal beach scene with over
2 miles of pristine coastline, surf, and sun. It's no wonder Mission
Beach draws large crowds in the summer months- this beach has something
for everyone. Take a stroll along the boardwalk, shop in one of many
retailers along the Strand, ride the Giant Dipper roller coaster or
join in a game of volleyball. Ocean Beach Dog lovers love Ocean Beach and a portion of the beach
is dedicated to letting both pets and owners run free. Dog Beach is
located within Ocean Beach and features a special dog run area where
dogs can roam without a leash. For those without their four legged
pups, Ocean Beach offers various restaurants, shopping, and fishing
opportunities- no fishing license required. When swimming at Ocean
Beach, remember to stay near a lifeguard. This beach has strong rip
currents requiring about 1,000 rescues each year. Coronado Island The beaches on Coronado Island are known for having
it all. The island is accessible by car, public bus, or by private
shuttles and taxis via the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge. Families
and singles alike flock to the beautiful shoreline of Coronado Island
where Marilyn Monroe starred in "Some Like It Hot" in 1958. Get away
to Coronado and relax on the white sand beaches, wade in the tide
pools, shop, surf and dine at some of San Diego's finest. Silver Strand State Beach is an ideal spot for ocean
front RV camping with beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego
Bay. Campers can swim, surf, water-ski, kayak and picnic in the Silver
Strand's near perfect year-round climate. Also open to day use visitors,
at the Silver Strand you'll love in the warm, calm waters and looking
out for buried sand dollar treasures. View Map. Find out more about Silver
Strand. Imperial Beach
Some of the best sand in the world resides at Imperial
Beach which is also home to the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition held
every summer. Imperial Beach is the most southwesterly city in the continental
U.S., and only 5 miles from the Mexico/U.S. boarder. Recently "remodeled" with
help from the San Diego Unified Port District, Imperial Beach now houses
Pier Plaza and is the perfect place for relaxing and enjoying beachside
fun. Photo courtesy of City of Imperial Beach.
