Cabrillo National Monument

Rich in history and breathtaking views, take a modern voyage at Cabrillo National Monument. This national park tells the story of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and the 16th century exploration of what is now the west coast of the United States. While there you'll want to explore the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, the Whale Overlook and local ocean ecosystem of the tide pools. Access requires a small entrance fee, making this a perfect stop for travelers on a budget.

Mission San Diego de Alcala

Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala is the known as the Mother of the Missions, it being the first of all 21 missions in California. Founded in 1769, today the mission is an active Catholic Parish. Visitor Center and Museum is open daily for information and a history of the California missions.
